No. 1 Corner Canyon Advances To 6A Title Game With Win Over No. 5 Farmington

SALT LAKE CITY – The top-ranked Corner Canyon Chargers punched their ticket to the 6A championship game with a 45-28 win over No. 5 Farmington at Rice-Eccles Stadium.
Corner Canyon quarterback Isaac Wilson completed 10 of his 20 pass attempts for 224 yards, two touchdowns and four interceptions. Drew Patterson ran the ball 16 times for 122 yards and one touchdown.
For Farmington, Easton Wright completed 20 of his 34 pass attempts for 272 yards and three touchdowns. Ben Stucki caught six passes for 134 yards and two touchdowns.
First Half
The game was scoreless until the last minute of the first quarter when Isaac Wilson found Jackson Ames for a 95-yard touchdown to give Corner Canyon a 7-0 lead with nine seconds remaining in the opening quarter.

In the second quarter, Wilson found Tate Kjar for a 21-yard touchdown to extend the Corner Canyon lead to 14-0 with 7:25 left in the first half. Farmington answered when Travis Hoopes ran in a two-yard touchdown to cut the deficit to 14-7 with 4:39 remaining in the first half.
Drew Patterson ran in a 15-yard touchdown for Corner Canyon to stretch their lead back out to 21-7 with 1:26 to go in the second quarter. But that wasn’t the end of the scoring for the first half. Ben Stucki made a nice touchdown catch from 29-yards out to bring the Phoenix to within seven, 21-14 with 58 seconds left in the first half.

Corner Canyon added a 32-yard field goal as time expired in the first half to give the Chargers a 24-14 lead.
Second Half
The Phoenix scored first in the second half with another touchdown grab by Stucki to bring Farmington within three, 24-21 with 7:10 left in the third quarter.
Following a defensive stop, the Phoenix took the lead after an 8-yard touchdown catch by Dante Coats. Farmington was up 28-24 with 3:21 remaining in the third.
Special teams took over the game at that point for Corner Canyon, starting with an 87-yard kick return for a touchdown by Brighton Brady.

BYU commit Owen Borg blocked a punt and returned it 11-yards for a touchdown. Corner Canyon held a 38-28 lead with 1:24 remaining in the third.
The final touchdown came on a five-yard run by Isaac Wilson with 6:29 left in the game.
Corner Canyon will advance to the 6A Championship and will face the winner of No. 3 Bingham/No. 2 Skyridge on Friday, November 18 at Rice-Eccles Stadium. The game will kickoff at 11:00 a.m. MT on KSLSports.com.
