Maikel Chang’s Header Gets RSL On Scoreboard Against FC Cincinnati

SANDY, Utah – Real Salt Lake midfielder Maikel Chang got his club on the scoreboard with a first half header against FC Cincinnati.
RSL hosted Cincinnati at America First Field on Saturday, September 17.
During the 35th minute of action, Jefferson Savarino received a throw in from the near side of the pitch and immediately sent the ball into the box. Chang connected his head to the pass and sent the ball sailing into the back of the net.
Chang’s goal gave Real Salt Lake a 1-0 lead.

It was Chang’s second goal of the season.
The midfielder entered the contest with one goal, six assists, 25 shots, and eight shots on goal in 31 appearances this season.

Savarino caught Cincy napping and received a throw-in up against the goal line, floated a ball across the face for Chang.

Real Salt Lake vs. FC Cincinnati
This feature against Cincinnati FC is a must-win affair for Real Salt Lake.
A loss or a draw will likely conclude with RSL on the wrong side of the playoff line following the weekend and both LA and Seattle with a game in hand.
For Real Salt Lake, they must find a way to turn the tide. They are yet to score a goal in their previous three matches, despite finding themselves in goal-scoring positions. The final touch of passages of play has let the side down as of late.
Cincinnati is a team in form and peaking at the right time. Unbeaten in their previous nine fixtures, they most recently beat San Jose 6-0. Interestingly, Cincinnati is led by manager Pat Noonan who was reported to be a finalist for the vacant RSL job last year before the club settled on then interim Mastroeni.
There are a lot of storylines entering the clash, none bigger than the simple fact that Real Salt Lake must pick up three points at home to keep their playoff ambitions alive.
