Former Utah Punter Inks Multi-Year Extension With 49ers

SALT LAKE CITY – The San Francisco 49ers announced that they’ve signed former Utah Utes punter to a multi-year contract extension.
The Niners shared the news on Friday, September 16.
“Mitchell boomin’ want some more!” San Francisco tweeted via the team’s official Twitter account.
Wishnowsky’s new deal is for four more years and runs through the end of the 2026 season.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Wishnowsky’s new contract with pay him $3 million annually and has a maximum value of $13 million.
“The #49ers signed P Mitch Wishnowsky to a four-year extension through the 2026 season, giving him just under $3M per year with a total max value of $13M in new money, source said,” the NFL insider reported.

A native of Perth, Australia, Wishnowsky played for the Utes from 2016-18.
During his career at Utah, Wishnowsky was honored as the 2016 Ray Guy Award winner as the nation’s best punter. The punter was recognized as a Ray Guy finalist three times during his college career, which is an NCAA record.
Following his college career, Wishnowsky was selected by the Niners with the No. 110 overall pick during the fourth round of the 2019 NFL Draft.
Wishnowsky is currently in his fourth NFL season. During his professional career, he’s averaged 45.5 yards per kick on 179 punts. He’s punted the ball inside the 20-yard line 72 times and has only 13 touchbacks.
He’s played in 50 regular season games and six postseason contests.
This season, the 49ers have an 0-1 record to start the season. San Francisco’s next game is at home against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday, September 18 at 2:05 p.m. (MDT) on FOX.
