No. 18 Brighton Defeats Woods Cross In Double Overtime

SALT LAKE CITY – The Brighton Bengals needed double overtime but were able to get the 28-21 win over Woods Cross on the road on Friday night.

Jack Johnson threw a touchdown pass and ran for the game-winning score to give the Bengals the win over the Wildcats.

Here are all of the results in the 5A classification from the third week of the 2022 high school football season.

Skyline 35 @ Post Falls 17 (ID)

The Eagles take a 21-10 lead into the half and never look back. Passer Josh Calvert tosses three touchdowns and Porter Brockman adds two scores of his own.

#10 Springville 18 @ #20 Bountiful 17

The Red Devils move to 3-0 on the year in a thrilling game in which Ryder Burton threw for two scores including a last-second game-winning touchdown to wide-out Walker Deede.

Green Canyon 6 (4A) @ #15 Park City 30

Carson Baynes takes a 62-yard punt return to the house. The Beyer brothers once again star and combine for three touchdowns in total. Park City allows only six points in the fourth quarter. Miners move to 3-0 on the season.

Copper Hills 27 (6A) @ #25 Viewmont 38

Copper Hills pushes back in the second half but again, a dominant Viewmont start pushes the team to a 3-0 start on the season. Luke Jacobs runs for two scores in the win.

Richfield 16(3A) @ Payson 35

Kade Edwards throws for two scores in a win for the Lions. Lincoln Ewell takes a six-yard punt return to the house.

Provo 36 @ Cedar Valley 14

Provo scores 30 points in the first half. Kyson Condie throws for two scores in the win over the Aviators. Jamison Hayward runs for a score in the victory, while Condie adds one touchdown on the ground.

#13 Desert Hills 13 (4A) @ Spanish Fork 26

Joshua Buck scores two touchdowns, Teni Worthen runs for one and Ty Bona adds another on a pass from McKay Smith as Spanish fork get the win over Desert Hills.

Murray 0 @ Northridge 50

Murray gets blanked and are on their way to 0-3 to start the season, a tough road lies ahead for the Spartans. AJ Tillman scores four touchdowns for Northridge in the victory.

#8 Farmington 62 (6A) @ Maple Mountain 7

Easton Wight continues his impressive start to the season as Farmington bulldozes Maple Mountain. Phoenix move to 3-0 on the season off of Wight’s five touchdown passes.

Mountain Crest 0(4A) @ Box Elder 27

The Bees blank the Mustangs as Cole Mortensen takes a 90-yard pick-six to the house.

Mountain View 21 @ Juab 49 (3A)

No stats were provided for this game.

#21 Weber 20 (6A) @ Bonneville 38

The Lakers get the upset to move to 3-0 on the season. Jaxon Johnson throws for three touchdown passes in the victory. Tifaga Havili runs for an 8-yard score.

Pleasant Grove 47 (6A) @ #9 Orem 0

The Vikings shut out the Tigers. Jaeden Wright scores two touchdowns for the Vikings. Kaine McCoy, Shawn Cottle, and Kove Warner also contribute to the scoring.

Hillcrest 14 @ Jordan 21

The Huskies fall to 0-3 on the year as Colton Austin scores all three touchdowns for Jordan in the win.

Uintah 42 @ Green River (WY) 7

The Utes jumped out to a 35-7 first-half lead and never looked back. They added a touchdown in the third quarter and held Green River to one score in the first quarter.

Bear River 35 (4A) @ Highland 46

The Rams pick up their first victory of the season in a shootout. Darwin Keyes stars for Highland and scores two touchdowns on the day.

Hurricane 22 (4A) @ #22 Timpanogos 42

The Timberwolves move to 3-0 on the year. MJ Losefo throws for three touchdowns in the win. Luke Livingston also tosses a touchdown pass as the T-Wolves take a 21-7 lead into the half and never look back.

Providence Hall 16 (3A) @ Cottonwood 7

The Colts fall to 0-3. Tui Fonua throws a touchdown pass to Aaron Barlow and the Patriots get their first win of the season.

#12 Stansbury 68 @ Skyline (ID) 42

The Stallions dropped 47 points in the first half and that was all they needed. Mateaki Helu rushed for four touchdowns in the win. Ezra Harris threw for five touchdowns and ran in another one. He connected with Trent Jones twice and once each to Brock Wilson, Dylan Hamilton and Helu.
