SALT LAKE CITY – Easton Oliverson, the baseball player from Snow Canyon who fell from his bunk bed earlier in the week ahead of the Little League World Series, is making strides in his recovery.

Oliverson fell from his bunk bed in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, on Sunday evening ahead of the Little League World Series. He was a key member of the Snow Canyon baseball team that made history when it became the first team from the state of Utah to qualify for the Little League World Series.

Immediately following the fall, Oliverson was life-flighted to a nearby hospital where he underwent emergency brain surgery. Oliverson was sedated, located in the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit, as his brain recovered from the trauma and surgery.

However, as the week has progressed, so has Oliverson. The family has created an Instagram page titled “Miracles For Tank” where they are updating those interested in Oliverson’s recovery.

Oliverson is now awake, has had his breathing tube taken out, and has been moved out of the ICU. Oliverson is sitting up in a chair and attempting to feed himself. He has taken two steps with support. When asked what his name was and how old he was, he answered both correctly.

Furthermore, he is beginning to communicate more frequently with his mother, Nancy, father, Jace, and uncles who have been by his side at the hospital.

Little Brother Called Up

Nancy and Jace told Oliverson that his younger brother, Brogan, will be taking his spot on the team throughout the Little League World Series which begins for Utah on Friday, August 19, with a match against the Southeast region. The first pitch will be thrown at 1 p.m.

Brogan and Easton both played on the same team throughout the Little League season this year. However, ahead of the Utah All-Stars tournament, Brogan was selected as an alternate player for the team. Now, Brogan will have the opportunity of a lifetime to represent the Mountain region and to fill the void left by his injured older brother.

This week, Oliverson was also amazed to awake to videos sent to him by the BYU Football team and his favorite Major League Baseball player Mookie Betts. Both videos can be found on the Miracles For Tank Instagram page.

A Venmo account has also been set up to help the Oliverson family with medical costs as Easton continues his road to recovery. For those interested in contributing, click here.
