SALT LAKE CITY – Former Utah Jazz scout Jake Lindsey is taking a job with Grand Canyon University’s basketball staff.

The program announced the hiring on Tuesday via Twitter.

“Jake Lindsey joins GCU’s staff as Director of Player Personnel after three seasons with the Utah Jazz,” the tweet read.

Lindsey, the son of former Jazz Vice President of Basketball Operations Dennis Lindsey first joined the organization as an intern before being hired as the team’s coordinator of college scouting.

After a successful career at Olympus High School, Lindsey played basketball at Baylor where the Bears made two runs to the NCAA Tournament, including a trip to the Sweet 16.

Lindsey averaged 4.6 points and 3.3 assists in 18 starts over his final two seasons at Baylor under head coach Scott Drew.

Drew’s brother Bryce is the head coach at Grand Canyon and offered Lindsey the job after leaving the Jazz.

“We are very excited about the addition of Jake Lindsey,” Drew said in a release from the team. “He has been very successful as a player and as a scout in NBA. Being from a basketball family, he has been around the game his whole life. His knowledge, passion and basketball experiences will help our program.”

Lindsey’s playing career was plagued by injuries in high school and college that ultimately revealed a neurological disorder called Parsonage-Turner Syndrome that affects the shoulder and arm.

The guard spent his final season of college working with Baylor coaches in the film room before ultimately joining the Jazz.

Dennis Lindsey moved into an advisory role for the Jazz in the summer of 2021 shortly before the organization hired Danny Ainge to serve as the CEO of basketball in December.
