SAN FRANCISCO- The Pac-12 continues trucking along despite swirling rumors of their eventual demise that Commissioner George Kliavkoff called out last Friday at Media Day. In another effort showing unity and determination amongst the ten remaining Pac-12 schools moving forward, Kliavkoff announced Monday morning of a newly created position and hire in Quashan Lockett as the league’s Chief of People and Inclusion Officer.

About The New Role

The position was designed with the intent to help the Pac-12’s schools further their mission to achieve continued growth in Diversity, Equality, Inclusion, and Belonging. Lockett’s primary duties will include working across the conference office and university’s athletic departments overseeing human resources, talent development, and change management while driving the enhancement of the Pac-12’s values-based culture and social impact strategies.

“Sport and athletics have the unique power to unify people, drive culture, and create positive change,” Locket said Monday morning. “I’m passionate about building inclusive, equitable and people-centric organizations and with the rapid and continuously evolving landscape of college athletics, I am excited to work alongside George, the Pac-12 executive team, and the member university athletic departments to ensure that our values and commitment to DEIB are front and center. I am looking-forward to supporting, empowering, and advocating for our student-athletes and employees and helping to elevate their overall experience and well-being to the next level.”

About Quashan Lockett’s Experience

Quashan Lockett brings to the Pac-12 17 years of experience building up culturally strong organizations in the sports, entertainment, retail, technology and hospitality industries. His particular successes have come in organizational development and developing business transformation strategies while also founding Color of Sports- a purpose driven change agency that focuses on disrupting inequality and driving social change through sports and entertainment.

Locket comes to the Pac-12 most recently from On Location as their Global Head of Human Resources.
