SALT LAKE CITY – Utah Jazz Summer League big men Bruno Caboclo and Kofi Cockburn connected for an alley-oop in the Salt Lake City Summer League finale.

Late in the first quarter, Bruno Caboclo was in the paint and found Kofi Cockburn for an alley-oop to fire up the Jazz fans at Vivint Arena.

That play gave the Jazz a 29-17 lead at the end of the first quarter. Cockburn was up to six points, while Caboclo recorded his first assist of the game.

After not hearing his name called on draft night, Kofi Cockburn signed with the Utah Jazz to play for their Summer League team. He had a great college career at Illinois. Cockburn joined the Illini after playing for high school powerhouse Oak Hill Academy. In three seasons with Illinois, Cockburn averaged 17.2 points and 9.6 rebounds in 90 games played. This past season, he averaged 20.9 points and 10.6 rebounds.

After the 2021-22 season, Cockburn was a consensus first-team All-American. He also won the Big Ten Freshman of the Year award in 2020.

Bruno Caboclo is a well-traveled basketball player that was drafted in the first round with the 20th overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft by the Toronto Raptors. He started his professional basketball career with Pinheiros before playing for the Raptors from 2014-18 with stints in the NBA G League with the Fort Wayne Mad Ants and Raptors 905.

The Brazilian then joined the Sacramento Kings in 2018, playing for the Reno Bighorns. Then he played for the Rio Grand Valley Vipers during the 2018-19 season. Caboclo went back to the NBA, signing with the Memphis Grizzlies, while spending time with the Memphis Hustle in 2019-20. Following that stint, he played for the Houston Rockets during the 2020-21 season. After a one-year run with Limoges CSP, Caboclo played in his home country with Sau Paulo FC, where he won the BCL Americas Championship and was named BCL Americas MVP.
