SALT LAKE CITY – Former Utah Jazz forward Joe Ingles plans to sign with the Milwaukee Bucks, according to a tweet by the ex-Jazzman’s wife, Renae.

Ingles’ deal with the Bucks was announced shortly after NBA free agency began on Thursday, June 30.

The forward’s deal in Milwaukee will be for one season at roughly $6.5 million, the full taxpayer mid-level exception according to RealGM.

“BREAKING NEWS: Sources very close to free agent @Joeingles7 can confirm that he has agreed to a one-year deal with the Milwaukee Bucks,” Renae tweeted. “CEO of the house, Renae Ingles, is thrilled for Joe and their family. Joe himself, is said to be very bucking happy.”

Joe Ingles on trade from Utah Jazz

After playing the first seven and a half years of his NBA career with the Jazz, Ingles was traded by Utah to the Portland Trail Blazers in February.

The forward was in the final year of his contract with the Jazz and had recently suffered a season-ending ACL injury.

“I’m not saying that the Jazz shouldn’t have traded me or anything, you just learn the business side,” Ingles said shortly after the trade. “Regardless of how close I was with people or the relationships we’ve built, or the work we did on the community or whatever it is, if it’s going to be better off for a team, they’re going to do it.”

Ingles didn’t rule out a return to Utah, but he planned to explore his options.

“I’m not going to say I want to come back to the Jazz or I want to be with Portland or I want to go to whoever, wherever it is,” Ingles added. “I’m going to leave every option open, I am going to listen to whoever wants to talk to me.”

He never played for the Blazers and is now moving on to the Bucks, who won the NBA title in 2021.

Ingles played 590 games for the Jazz, including 313 starts. During his time in Utah, the Australian averaged 8.6 points, 3.2 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 0.2 blocks, and 0.9 steals in 25.7 minutes per game.
