SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah Jazz front office staff have reportedly added two more candidates to interview for their head coaching vacancy, including former Lakers coach Frank Vogel.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski is reporting that the Jazz are expected to interview former Los Angeles Lakers head coach Frank Vogel and former Quin Snyder assistant Lamar Skeeter.

Vogel recently finished his third stop as an NBA head coach with the Los Angeles Lakers. In his first season with the Lakers during the 2019-20 season, he led them to an NBA Championship in the bubble in Orlando, Florida. Vogel was fired on April 11, 2022, following three seasons with the franchise, finishing with a 127-98 record. They lost in the first round of the playoffs to the Phoenix Suns in 2020-21 season and missed the postseason this past year after posting a 33-49 record.

Vogel has seen success as a head coach in the NBA, getting his first chance with the Indiana Pacers in 2010. After 2015-16 season, the Pacers decided to not renew his contract despite missing the playoffs just once in six seasons, including two trips to the Eastern Conference Finals. He landed the head coaching job with the Orlando Magic before the 2016-17 season. After two seasons and a 54-110 record, Vogel was fired after the 2017-18 season.

Before becoming a head coach, Vogel was an assistant coach with the Boston Celtics from 2001-04, the Philadelphia 76ers from 2004-05 and Indiana Pacers from 2007-11.

Lamar Skeeter has been with the Jazz throughout his entire coaching career. He started in 2015-16 as an assistant coach and in player development. Skeeter was promoted to Snyder’s bench ahead of the 2019-20 season.

The Jazz already received permission to interview former Jazz assistant and current associate head coach of the New York Knicks Johnnie Bryant, Boston Celtics assistants Will Hardy and Joe Mazzulla, Milwaukee Bucks assistant Charles Lee, along with Jazz assistant Alex Jensen and former Portland Trail Blazers head coach Terry Stotts.

Wojnarowski later added another name to the list of candidates that the Jazz will interview in Miami Heat assistant Chris Quinn. Quinn also spoke to the Charlotte Hornets for their head coaching vacancy. After Quinn played in the NBA, overseas and the G-League from 2006-13, he was an assistant coach at Northwestern for the 2013-14 season. Then he joined Erik Spoelstra’s staff as an assistant in 2014 and has been on the staff ever since.

Shortly after the Quinn news, Wojnarowski added two more candidates to the interview pool for the Jazz, including Toronto assistant Adrian Griffin and Phoenix Suns assistant Kevin Young.

Griffin interviewed for the job with the Jazz before they hired Quin Snyder. He was in the NBA from 1999-2008, playing for the Boston Celtics, Dallas Mavericks, Houston Rockets, Chicago Bulls and Seattle SuperSonics.

Griffin started coaching in 2008 with the Milwaukee Bucks for two years, before having coaching stops with the Bulls, Orlando Magic, Oklahoma City Thunder and the Toronto Raptors. He has been with the Raptors coaching staff since 2018.

Young is a Salt Lake City native with ties to the state. He started his coaching career in Dublin, Ireland in 2006 before returning to the state of Utah to be an assistant with Utah Valley from 2007-08. Young then went to Oxford college as an assistant from 2008-09 before making the jump to the NBA G-League as an assistant with the Utah Flash. He then was promoted to head coach from 2010-11.

Young went to the Iowa Energy as the head coach from 2011-13 and then was an assistant with the Deleware 87ers from 2013-14 before being promoted to head coach from 2014-17. Young got his first shot as an NBA assistant with the Philadelphia 76ers from 2017-20 before joining the Phoenix Suns coaching staff in 2020. He was promoted to associate head coach this past season.
