SALT LAKE CITY- Former Utah and current Bills running back Zack Moss announced his intention to auction off a pair of game-worn cleats to raise money for the Ty Jordan and Aaron Lowe Memorial Scholarship fund. Since moving on to the NFL, Moss has made a continued effort to give back to the city of Salt Lake in a show of appreciation for his time with the Utes. Last year, Moss centered his give-back around raising fund for the Utah Food Bank.

How To Enter

Moss’ contest for the cleats is centered around his Instagram page where he has a link to buy raffle tickets. The money raised from the tickets will be put toward Utah football’s memorial scholarship for fallen brothers Ty Jordan and Aaron Lowe. The link is located in Moss’ Instagram Bio.

22 Forever

Moss has a direct connection with Aaron Lowe who was a freshmen during Moss’ senior season in 2019. Lowe was shockingly gunned down at a house party on September 26 after the Utes’ victory over Washington State in 2021. Lowe’s tragic death came on the heals of an earlier heartbreak for Utah who lost breakout freshman running back Ty Jordan to an accidental gunshot wound on Christmas night of 2020. Jordan looked to be the Utes’ answer to replacing the dynamic Moss until he was taken away much too soon.

Both Jordan and Lowe wore the number 22. Lowe originally donned the number 2 like Moss, but changed his number for the 2021 season to honor his fallen friend. Jordan and Lowe both grew up in Mesquite, Texas and Lowe was a big reason for Jordan’s commitment to the Utes. After Lowe’s death, Utah retired the number 22, the first time in football program history a number has been retired.

The Ty Jordan and Aaron Lowe Memorial Scholarship is awarded to an athlete on the Utes’ football team who best encapsulates Jordan and Lowes’ infectious optimism, big smiles, and hard work on the football field. Lowe was the first recipient of the scholarship in 2021. Moss’ efforts will go a long way to making sure their legacy continues to live on through the scholarship.
