PROVO, Utah – BYU football staffer Jasen Ah You has received a new position. Ah You, the father to BYU defensive back/linebacker Chaz Ah You, is now the Assistant Athletic Director for football academics.

Ah You was the director of BYU football recruiting for the past two years. Before that, Ah You was the director of athletic relations for BYU football. Throughout his time with BYU football, he served as an NFL liaison, helping form relationships and give current BYU players insight into their NFL prospects.

Jasen Ah You moves to newly formed academics role

In the new role as Assistant Athletic Director for football academics, Ah You will work in BYU’s Built4Life Center (located at the Student Athlete Building third floor) and report to associate dean of students Trevor Wilson.

Ah You’s role is a new position, and will have full-time academic advisors and learning specialists reporting to him.

“Jasen will be tremendous in this role,” BYU football coach Kalani Sitake said on Ah You’s new position. “I’m happy for him. The administration has given him a great opportunity. I’m very grateful for what Jasen has done on our support staff to help us develop our recruiting, academics and other important areas over the years. He truly cares about each individual in our program. He has done a lot to help our players achieve and grow academically and in all aspects of their lives, and I’m excited he will be continuing to support our players on a daily basis in this new capacity.”

Part of Ah You’s role will develop and execute a comprehensive academic plan for each player on BYU’s football team. According to BYU’s announcement, each plan will be created based on the student-athletes individual needs and will ensure academic goals are created and realized.

BYU football needs a new Director of Recruiting

BYU listed its Director of Recruiting position on its jobs website earlier this week. The posting closes later today.

Ah You led BYU’s recruiting efforts for two cycles. The 2022 class was ranked No. 57, the highest BYU has produced in the 247Sports Composite team rankings since 2016.

BYU hired Justin Anderson to be the program’s Director of Player Personnel. In his role, Anderson serves as BYU’s version of an NFL General Manager. He manages the scholarship count, and is heavily involved in BYU’s recruiting efforts.
