Former Ute Becomes First NL Player To Reach Double-Digit Homers

SALT LAKE CITY – Former Utah Utes and current Colorado Rockies standout C.J. Cron became the first National League player to hit double-digit home runs in 2022.
Cron and the Rockies hosted the San Francisco Giants at Coors Field on Wednesday, May 18.
During the eighth inning, the former Utah standout crushed his 10th homer of the season.
The two-run shot made Cron the first NL player to reach the mark in 2022.

Cron’s homer also gave the Rockies a 5-3 lead.
Colorado held on for a 5-3 victory and improved its record to 18-19 this season.
Cron finished the contest 1-4 with one run, two RBIs, and one strikeout.

Cron is in his ninth season in the MLB and second season with the Rockies.
Before his professional career, Cron played three seasons at Utah under former coach Bill Kinneberg.
Cron set a Utah career record with a .396 batting average. He was a two-time first-team All-American in his last two seasons at Utah. Cron also was a semi-finalist for the Golden Spikes Award and Dick Howser Trophy.
