Jazz Center Rudy Gobert Stung By Bee On Eye

SALT LAKE CITY – Rudy Gobert has been stung by a bee on his right eye.
The Utah Jazz center discussed the injury as the team prepares to face the Dallas Mavericks in a win-or-go-home Game 6 in Salt Lake City.
Gobert keeps bees at his Utah home and suffered the sting after the Jazz returned from a blowout 102-77 loss in Game 5.
“I’ve got a hive at my house,” Gobert said, “I got stung right here by my nose.”

The Jazz trail the Mavericks three games to two, and need a win Thursday night to send the series back to Dallas for a deciding Game 7.
Gobert is averaging 12.4 points, 13.4 points, and 1.2 rebounds in the first five games of the series.
“I’ve always wanted to have some, and a year ago we put up a hive at the house, it’s been going great. I’ve been stung like three times since I got it, but this is a rough spot.”
Gobert said he had recently replaced the queen in the hive which may have agitated the other bees, but that he enjoys the numerous benefits that come with beekeeping.
“It’s good for the environment, it’s good for the landscape, and all the flowers and the fruits and stuff around,” Gobert said. “It’s great, I love honey. So I always wanted to have my own.”
Tough Series For Gobert
It’s been a tumultuous series for Gobert, who in addition to being stung by a bee, was fined $25,000 for using foul language after the Jazz’s Game 4 win in Utah.
“There’s a lot of talk about what this team can and can’t be in the postseason, as you’re well aware,” TNT’s Matt Winer said to Gobert of the win. “What is the potential of this Utah group?”

“[Expletive] the talk,” Gobert responded. “We’re just trying to be the best team we can be, try to enjoy the moment, and whatever happens, happens.”
Those comments came on the heels of a rough start to the series for Gobert. The Jazz center managed just six field-goal attempts and two makes over the first two games of the series.
