SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah Jazz stunned the Dallas Mavericks with a 100-99 win to even the series at two games apiece.

Jordan Clarkson scored 25 points while Donovan Mitchell added 23 points in the Jazz win.

Luka Doncic had 30 points in his return for the Mavericks.

First Quarter

The Jazz fell behind 13-5 midway through the first quarter but answered with a 16-5 run to take a 21-20 lead in the final minute of the period.

The lead could have been larger had it not been for five missed free throws and several missed shots early in the game, but their improved defensive effort paid dividends.

Mitchell scored 12 of the Jazz’s first 24 points to lead all scorers.

After one, the Jazz led the Mavericks 24-23.

Second Quarter

Maxi Kleber, who had hurt the Jazz with his three-point shooting in Games 2 and 3 was stricken with foul trouble throughout the first half, and managed just three points on 1-2 shooting in 5:29 on the floor.

The Jazz second unit, led by Jordan Clarkson, helped the Jazz build their lead to 16 in the final minutes of the half.

However, Luka Doncic scored the last five points of the half for Dallas to trim the Jazz lead to 12 going into the break.

After two, the Jazz led the Mavericks 54-42.

Third Quarter

The Mavericks opened the third quarter on a 15-5 run on a perfect 5-5 shooting to trim the Jazz lead to just two.

The Jazz answered by rebuilding their lead to eight midway through the quarter, but the Mavericks’ three-point shooting proved to be too much for the Jazz to overcome.

Dallas shot an impressive 8-10 from the three-point line in the third quarter to fully erase the Jazz’s double-digit lead.

After three, the Jazz trailed the Mavericks 81-78.

Fourth Quarter

Both teams ratcheted up their defense to open the fourth quarter exchanging stops and struggling to score.

The Jazz relied heavily on the offense of Clarkson with Mitchell struggling to score while Dallas turned to Doncic.

Dwight Powell missed two-free throws with the Mavericks leading the Jazz by one in the final 20 seconds of the game, and Mitchell hit Gobert for what proved to be a game-winning alley-oop.

The Jazz beat the Mavericks 100-99 to even the series at 2 games apiece.
