SALT LAKE CITY – Former NFL running back Marshawn Lynch celebrated becoming a part-owner of the NHL’s Seattle Kraken by hitting the ice in a zamboni.
On Monday, April 18, the Kraken announced Lynch and artist Macklemore as minority owners of the first-year hockey franchise.
“This is something I never would have imagined,” Lynch said in a statement. “I always dreamed of playing on a professional team but owning one is something special. As I look back on some of my accomplishments — I retired before I was 30 and now being an owner of a professional club at the age of 35 – I’m gonna continue to count my blessings.”
After the announcement, the Kraken shared a video clip of Lynch driving a zamboni on the ice in Seattle’s practice facility.

Prior to Lynch’s ride on the ice, the former NFL star was well known for another driving experience.
As a college student at California in 2006, Lynch took a training cart for a joy ride on the field to celebrate a victory.

Following his college career, Lynch was the No. 12 overall pick in the 2007 NFL Draft.

Lynch played in the NFL from 2007-19. During his professional career, the running back played for the Buffalo Bills, Seattle Seahawks, and Oakland Raiders. Lynch is a Super Bowl champion, two-time All-Pro honoree, and five-time Pro Bowler.
