BYU Football Hosts Star-Studded Recruits At Spring Practice

PROVO, Utah – BYU football continues to bring in some big-name recruits to campus during spring practices. On Thursday, at BYU’s 12th spring practice of the month, a quartet of four-star prospects in the class of 2023 was on hand to watch practice for unofficial visits.

A quartet of four-star recruits visit BYU Football

American Fork edge rusher Hunter Clegg, Timpview OL Spencer Fano, Skyridge DB Smith Snowden, and Folsom, California TE Walker Lyons all were at BYU.

During their visit, the four-star prospects watched practice and heard from Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid speak to the BYU football team. Reid was in Provo to be the keynote speaker for BYU’s High School Coach’s Clinic, which had 275 coaches in attendance.

Lyons, who has BYU in his top six schools with Alabama, Ohio State, Stanford, USC, and Utah, tweeted a picture with Reid, BYU coach Kalani Sitake, and former BYU tight end Chad Lewis saying, “Goat talk!!”

After Thursday’s practice, Lyons walked off the BYU practice field, chatting with a current tight end in the BYU program, Isaac Rex. Lyons wrote on Twitter that he plans to visit Utah spring practice this Saturday.

Edge Rusher Hunter Clegg

Clegg is one of the top edge rushers out west, holding offers from BYU, Utah, Stanford, USC, among others. At 6-foot-4, 235-pounds, Clegg is No. 236 in the 247Sports Composite ratings.

OL Spencer Fano

Timpview’s Spencer Fano is the younger brother to injured BYU edge rusher Logan Fano. Earlier this week, the younger Fano, the No. 114 overall prospect in the 247Sports Composite, tweeted he received a scholarship offer from West Virginia. With a recruiting pitch snuck in there, Logan Fano quickly responded, “Cool go cougs.”

Fano is 6-foot-4, 240-pounds with more than 20 Power Five offers.

DB Smith Snowden

Smith Snowden is rated as a four-star cornerback in 247Sports’ ratings for their site. The 5-foot-9, 173-pound defensive back has 10 interceptions in his first two seasons at Skyridge. Snowden holds 10 Power Five offers, including one in the Big Ten from Northwestern.
