SALT LAKE CITY – University of Utah women’s basketball head coach Lynne Robert discussed her team earning a spot in the NCAA Tournament and previewed the Utes’ upcoming postseason game.

Roberts talked about the tourney when she joined Jake Scott and Ben Anderson on The Zone Sports Network on Tuesday, March 15.

“Sunday was fun,” Robert said of Utah’s experience hearing they were included in the field of 68. “We knew we were in, we just didn’t know what seed.”

The Utes were selected to the tourney as a No. 7 seed against the No. 10 seed Arkansas Razorbacks.

“We were very pleased with seven. Anytime you can get out of that eight/nine line is great, because if you win that, then you get the fortune of playing number one,” Roberts continued. “We were hoping to get out of that eight/nine line and we did which is great. I’ve been told we were the highest seven seed. So we’re close to six there. So that’s good. Sunday was really fun.”

The 20-11 Utes will face an 18-13 Razorbacks squad in the first round on Friday, March 18 at the Frank Erwin Center in Austin, Texas.

Arkansas will enter the matchup having lost five of its last seven contests.

“They’re good,” Roberts said of the Razorbacks. “They actually play very, very similar to us and we’re very up-tempo. We had the best offense in the conference and we’re in the top, I think five or six statistically in almost every offensive category in the nation and they’re right there too. So it’ll be a track meet. Both teams love to get out and run and shoot the three and score quickly rather than burn clock. So similar styles, similar roster in terms of, you know, the type of players out there. So it should be fun.”

In comparison, Utah has won five of its last seven outings. The two losses during that stretch came against No. 25 Oregon and No. 2 Stanford.

Listen to Robert’s entire conversation on the Jake & Ben podcast. The Jake & Ben show can be heard weekdays from 10 AM to Noon (MDT) on The Zone Sports Network.

Utah’s game against Arkansas will tip off on Friday, March 18 at 3:30 p.m. (MDT) on ESPNEWS.
