Seattle Seahawks Sign RB Darwin Thompson To Future Contract

SALT LAKE CITY – The Seattle Seahawks announced that they have signed former Utah State running back Darwin Thompson to a future contract.
A future contract means that Darwin Thompson will join the Seattle Seahawks during their training camp in the fall.
Thompson was taken in the sixth round of the 2019 NFL Draft by the Kansas City Chiefs. He played in 12 games as a rookie in 2019, finishing with 37 carries for 128 yards and one touchdown. He also caught nine passes for 43 yards.

During the 2020 season, Thompson played in 14 games with one start, recording 27 carries for 97 yards and one touchdown, while hauling in seven receptions for 65 yards and one TD.
After signing a four-year deal after getting drafted, Thompson was placed on the IR/COVID-19 list on July 28, 2021. About one week later, he was activated before getting released on August 31, 2021.
Thompson played one season with Utah State in 2018. He racked up 1,044 yards and 14 touchdowns on 153 attempts. He also caught 23 passes for 351 yards and two TD’s. Thompson earned All-Mountain West honors.
The Seahawks struggled during the 2021 season, finishing with a 7-10 record, which was last in the NFC West division.
