SALT LAKE CITY –  The Utah Jazz lost their fifth straight game with a 126-106 blowout loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves.

However, the bigger storyline for the Jazz was the injury suffered by Joe Ingles midway through the second quarter that saw the guard carried the locker room by his teammates.

Ingles will have an MRI on Monday as the team returns to Utah after a 4-12 January.

First Quarter

The Jazz opened up an 11-5 lead to begin the first quarter but struggled to score once their starters began to sub out.

Mike Conley scored 12 first quarter points, as Bojan Bogdanovic was the team’s second-leading scorer with just four points. The second unit managed just two points.

Seven of the eight Timberwolves to appear in the first quarter scored, led by Jaylen Nowell who scored six.

After one, the Jazz trailed Minnesota 26-20.

Second Quarter

Joe Ingles suffered what looked like a serious left knee injury midway through the second quarter when he was driving to the rim.

The veteran collapsed after stepping on his left knee which caved inward, leaving the longtime Jazz man yelling in pain on the floor.

The Jazz responded to Ingles injury by taking a 48-41 lead but quickly surrendered it by allowing an 11-0 run by Minnesota to close the half.

At the break, the Jazz trailed Minnesota 52-48.

Third Quarter

Without Ingles in the lineup the Jazz struggled to regain their composure in the second half and watched the Timberwolves lead balloon.

Karl-Anthony Towns scored 18 points in the quarter as Minnesota’s lead climbed to as big as 19 against the undermanned Jazz roster.

Bojan Bogdanovic and Conley combined for 39 points through three quarters to lead the Jazz.

After three, Minnesota led the Jazz 92-75.

Fourth Quarter

The Jazz weren’t able to close the gap in the fourth quarter as Minnesota’s young players used their opportunity to grow the lead to as many as 21.

For the game, the Jazz shot 38-81 from the floor for 47 percent and 15-40 from the three-point line for 37 percent.

The team was led by Bojan Bogdanovic who finished with 23 points.

The Jazz fell to the Timberwolves 126-106.
