Gobert Gets Snowplow Named After Him

SALT LAKE CITY – Rudy Gobert has three Defensive Player of the Year awards, five All-Defensive Team appearances, four All-NBA appearances, and two All-Star appearances. Now, he’s a part of another elite group, the Salt Lake City snowplow fleet.
On Friday, Salt Lake City Transportation announced the names of 10 new plows that will keep the streets clean during the state’s notoriously plentiful snowstorms.
Of the 10 new trucks, one is named “Rudy Snowbert” in honor of the Utah Jazz center.

“You’ve all been waiting patiently and thanks to our sign shop the snowplows officially have nametags!” the agency tweeted. “Here is the full list of winning names from the poll. Check out the video to see how they look and to learn more about our snow removal program.”
In December, Salt Lake City posted an online poll asking residents to vote on names for the new fleet of trucks.
Along with the snowplow named after Gobert, the other nine winners include Sled Zeppelin, Flake Effect, The Notorious P.L.O.W., Ice Eccles, Snowy McSnowFace, Snowbi Wan Kenobi, No More Mr. Ice Guy, Jon Bon Snowvi, and Sugar Plows.
The city also released a video introducing the new trucks, including the snowplow named after Gobert.
According to the YouTube post, the top three vote-getting names were Sled Zeppelin with 2713 votes, Flake Effect with 2412 votes, and Snowy McSnowFace with 1908 votes.
Last winter Salt Lake City Snow Fighters responded to 24 days of snow and icing events that created 16.75 inches of snowfall on the benches and 7.8 inches in the valley. They plowed and salted nearly 32,000 lane miles of roadway using over 6,000 tons of salt.
Gobert is averaging 16.0 points, 15.1 rebounds, and 2.3 blocks. The center is also shooting a league-best and career-high 70 percent from the floor. Gobert is expected to be named an All-Star for the third time next week.
