Weber State To Retire Jersey Of Women’s Basketball Legend Kathy Miller

OGDEN, Utah – Weber State Athletics announced that they will retire the jersey of women’s basketball legend Kathy Miller. She will become the first female athlete in Weber State history to have her jersey retired.

The Ogden, Utah native will have her jersey retired at the Dee Events Center during Weber State’s game against Idaho on Saturday, February 12.

Miller played for Weber State from 1976-79 and was a four-time All-Mountain West Conference selection and team MVP every season as a Wildcat. She still is the record holder in five statistical categories in Weber State women’s basketball history, including 2,745 points in 100 career games played. Miller also holds the record for career scoring average of 27.5 points per game, rebounds per game at 13 and 1,082 career field goals made.

Weber State is thrilled to retire the jersey Kathy Miller on February 12.

Miller holds single game records, including a 50-point game and most rebounds in a game with 26. She was a multi-sport athlete at Weber State, playing volleyball and softball as well as basketball.

“We are excited to honor Kathy Miller with a jersey retirement,” said Weber State Director of Athletics Tim Crompton. “She was an incredible player and to this day remains the all-time leading scorer. Kathy laid a foundation of excellence not only for women’s basketball but for all women’s sports. It is appropriate that Kathy Miller’s jersey is the first women’s athletic jersey retired at Weber State University.”

Miller was a part of the first-ever class to be inducted into the Weber State Athletics Hall of Fame in 1989.
