SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah Jazz fell to the Los Angeles Lakers 101-95.

The Jazz played sluggishly throughout the game failing to match the Lakers physicality while shooting just 36 percent from the floor and 26 percent from the three-point line.

Mike Conley led the Jazz with 20 points as they fell for the fifth time in the last six outings.

First Quarter

The Jazz didn’t have the same sharpness to open the game against the Lakers that they showed in the fourth quarter against the Nuggets on Sunday.

In the opening 12 minutes, the Jazz had eight giveaways to just four assists while the Lakers committed only two turnovers.

Royce O’Neale led the Jazz in scoring by knocking down two of the team’s five made threes in the first quarter.

After one, the Jazz led the Lakers 25-24.

Second Quarter

The Jazz didn’t see the ball go in as easily from downtown in the second quarter and as a result struggled to score the ball at all.

As a team, the Jazz shot just 26 percent from the floor and 15 percent from the three-point line while the Lakers had one of their better recent shooting halves.

The Lakers shot 51 percent in the first half and made 9-20 three-pointers but managed just 52 through the first two quarters.

At the half, the Jazz trailed the Lakers 52-46.

Third Quarter

The Jazz came out of the half intent on running and though they didn’t shoot the ball well, it allowed them to have their best offensive quarter.

The team put together several mini runs through the third quarter to erase the Lakers’ lead and build on their own.

The Jazz led by as much as 10 but executed poorly over the final few possessions allowing the Lakers to trim the lead to just six heading into the final quarter.

After three, the Jazz led the Lakers 78-72.

Fourth Quarter

The Lakers opened the fourth quarter playing small and with the most energy they had all night. They pushed the ball off of misses and put the Jazz in the bonus during the final eight games of the season.

Stanley Johnson surprisingly gave the Lakers a big push in the fourth quarter scoring 10 points in the final period to fuel a big run to retake the lead.

The Jazz managed just 11 points over the first 11 minutes of the quarter and just 17 overall while allowing 29 points to the Lakers.

The Jazz fell 101-95 for their fifth loss in the last six games.
