Dixie State’s Late Run Tops California Baptist For Road Win

SALT LAKE CITY – The Dixie State Trailblazers needed a big run late in order to pick up a 79-76 win over California Baptist on Wednesday night.
Dixie State ended the game on an 11-1 run and made four of their last five field goals. California Baptist ended the game with four turnovers and no field goals in the last 2:49 of the game.
Cameron Gooden led the Trailblazers with 26 points, six rebounds and four assists on 8-of-14 shooting from the field and 3-for-4 from the three-point line. Hunter Schofield contributed a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Dancell Leter posted 12 points, while Isaiah Pope added 10 points.

DSU shot 41% from the field, 33% from the three-point line and 72% from the foul line.
Leading CBU was Daniel Akin with 23 points and 11 rebounds. Ty Rowell dropped 16 points, while Tre Armstrong added 12 points and seven boards.
California Baptist shot 38% from the floor, 24% from the perimeter and 71% at the charity stripe.
The Trailblazers improved their record to 8-9 overall and 1-3 in WAC play. They will wrap up their road trip on Saturday, January 15 against Seattle U at 2 p.m. MT on ESPN+.
