Utah LB Nephi Sewell Accepts Invitation To Shrine Bowl

SALT LAKE CITY – Utah football junior linebacker Nephi Sewell has accepted an invitation to play in the East-West Shrine Bowl in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Nephi Sewell is the third Utah player that will participate in the Shrine Bowl and the fourth Ute to play in a postseason college football all-star game. He joins Bamidele Olaseni and Mika Tafua in the Shrine Bowl. Devin Lloyd will be playing in the Senior Bowl.
The Shrine Bowl brings in some of the best players in college football that are eligible for the NFL Draft.

Sewell joined the Utah football program in 2019 as a transfer from Nevada. He started as a walk-on before earning a scholarship in fall camp. After coming in as a safety, Sewell moved to linebacker for the 2020 season and thrived. This past season, Sewell finished with 89 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, one forced fumble and an interception. The St. George, Utah native was a All-Pac-12 honorable mention the last two seasons.
Sewell announced before the Rose Bowl Game that he would skip his senior season and declare for the 2022 NFL Draft.
The Shrine Bowl will take place on Thursday, February 3, 2022 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada. The game will begin at 6 p.m. MT on the NFL Network.
