Both brothers stand at 6-foot, 170-pounds, with Dominque slated to play wide receiver and Marcus playing the cornerback position. Their last name has a place in BYU football history already, as they are the sons of former BYU running back Brian McKenzie, a former teammate of Kalani Sitake back in 1997.

The McKenzie brothers made their commitments to BYU public on Monday morning after completing an official visit on campus in Provo. They opened up their recruitment after Bronco Mendenhall announced he would be stepping down from the Virginia head coach spot after the Cavaliers’ bowl game later this month.

Since Mendenhall stepped down, the McKenzie brothers are the second and third flips from Virginia to BYU. In addition, Lone Peak offensive lineman Joe Brown committed to BYU on Friday night.

Cornerback Marcus McKenzie had 84 tackles and four interceptions during his three years with the varsity program at Pine View. Wide receiver Dominique had 3,214 receiving yards and 36 total TDs during his prep career.

Along with playing football, the twin brothers also compete in track & field.

Marcus has been clocked in with a 10.55 100-meter dash and Dominique at 10.65.

Both players are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and plan on serving missions before enrolling at BYU.

BYU now has 19 commitments in the class of 2022, with 16 of those commitments coming from the state of Utah. The early signing period begins this Wednesday and runs through Friday.
