PROVO, Utah – Today is the big night for BYU women’s soccer as they gear up for the National Championship match.

This is the first time in BYU’s history that they will play in a National Championship game and they’ll do it against No. 1 seed Florida State.

BYU is hosting a watch party for fans to watch the match at the Marriott Center to celebrate the big occasion. The game kicks off at 6 p.m., with the Marriott Center doors opening at 5:15 p.m. (MT).

Admission is free to attend and fans can bring their own food and drink.

BYU Women’s Soccer playing for a title

The NCAA moved tonight’s National Championship match from Sunday to Monday to accommodate BYU’s No Sunday Play policy that allows them to keep Sundays a holy day and a day of worship.

BYU’s road to the title game includes wins over New Mexico, Alabama, No. 1 Virginia, South Carolina, and defending national champion Santa Clara on their home field in penalty kicks. This is BYU’s first time reaching the College Cup after 21 previous NCAA Tournament appearances. Head coach Jennifer Rockwood has led BYU through it all and her team comes into Monday’s title match with a 17-4-2 record.

On the other side is one of the powers in women’s soccer, two-time National Champions (2014, 2018) Florida State Seminoles. This year, the Noles are the No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament and have only lost one game. That was against Duke back on October 24 in Durham.

Florida State has defeated South Alabama, SMU, Pepperdine, Michigan, and Rutgers on their path towards facing BYU in tonight’s title.

A win would give BYU Women’s Soccer their first national title. It would be the 10th team National Championship in the history of BYU athletics.
