SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah Jazz beat the Portland Trail Blazers 129-107 to move to 14-7 on the season.

Donovan Mitchell led the Jazz in scoring 30 points and five assists while Rudy Gobert added a 21 point, 16 rebound double-double.

Portland was led by Jusif Nurkic who had 24 points and 10 rebounds but fell to 1-10 on the road this season.

First Quarter

It was a tale of two halves in the first quarter for the Jazz as the team’s starters came out and built a solid 9-5 lead thanks to stellar defense and good passing from Mike Conley and Joe Ingles.

However, when Quin Snyder went to the team’s second unit, Jordan Clarkson and Rudy Gay took turns isolating, and as a result, the ball stopped moving, and Portland took advantage of the predictable Jazz offense.

Rudy Gobert had had six pints in the first quarter on three dunks, as the Jazz trailed the Trail Blazers 23-21.

Second Quarter

The Jazz opened the second quarter on a strong push, going on an 18-8 run to build a 39-31 lead.

However, Portland answered behind 13 first half points from Jusif Nurkic to close the Jazz lead to just four at the break.

Gobert has a 12 point, 10 rebound double-double at the half while Jordan Clarkson had 10 points off the bench.

The Jazz led Portland 53-49 after two.

Third Quarter

The Jazz caught fire in the third quarter and hit nine threes scoring a total of 41 points.

Mitchell was up to 23 points for the game thanks to 14 third quarter points while Joe Ingles added 11 of his own on 4-4 shooting including 3-3 from three.

However, the Jazz gave up 35 points in the period led by Anfernee Simons who had 10 points in the period.

After three, the Jazz led Portland 94-84.

Fourth Quarter

The Jazz were able to weather Simons run which continued into the fourth quarter thanks to their own hot shooting and an abnormally low turnover night.

The Jazz had just five turnovers on the night which led to just eight points for Portland.

Furthermore, the Jazz held Damian Lillard to 11 points on 4-12 shooting which never allowed Portland’s backcourt to fully take over in Utah as Mitchell scored 30 for the Jazz.

The Jazz beat Portland 129-107.
