SALT LAKE CITY – The Lone Peak Knights are heading to the 6A Championship game after a 20-0 win over the Skyridge Falcons at Rice-Eccles Stadium.

Easton Comer had a great game, throwing for two touchdowns, finding Luke Hyde and Crew McChesney. It was a defensive slugfest but the Knights were able to make just enough plays to get the win. Now, they have a rematch with Corner Canyon, a team they beat and snapped the Chargers’ 48-game winning streak during the regular season.

On Lone Peak’s second offensive possession, Comer found Luke Hyde for a 62-yard gain that set the Knights up at the Skyridge eight-yard line. Two plays later, Skyridge picked off Comer.

As Skyridge was approaching the red zone, Lone Peak picked it off. When Lone Peak was near the red zone, Comer threw the ball to Hyde in the end zone but Smith Snowden pulled off a fantastic interception, snatching the ball out of Hyde’s hands in mid-air.

Skyridge tried to kick a long field goal at the end of the first half and missed. The game was scoreless heading into the halftime break.

In the third quarter, Lone Peak attempted a 44-yard field goal and nailed it for the first points of the game. The Knights held a 3-0 lead with 2:03 left in the period.

The first play of the fourth quarter, Comer threw a deep ball to Crew McChesney for a touchdown to put Lone Peak up 10-0 with 11:43 left in the game. When Skyridge tried to get back into the game, Hillstead threw an interception.

The Knights were able to get a field goal off of that turnover and had a 13-0 lead with 7:58 to play in the game. When Lone Peak had the ball to run out the clock, they took a shot and Comer found Luke Hyde in the end zone to seal the win.

Lone Peak will advance to the 6A championship game to face Corner Canyon on Friday, November 19. Kickoff is at 2:30 p.m. MT at Rice-Eccles Stadium and will be streamed on the KSL 5 TV app, KSL Sports app and KSLSports.com.
