SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – University of Utah head football coach Kyle Whittingham announced that offensive tackle Jaren Kump is out for the rest of the 2021 season.
Jaren Kump suffered an injury during their Week 6 win over USC and was trying to get back into action later this season but Whittingham officially ruled him out on Tuesday when he met with the media after practice.
Kump played in four of Utah’s five games this season (at the time of the injury) which means he is able to use his redshirt. The Herriman High School star played in nine career games as a Ute.

“Jaren Kump will miss the remainder of the season and so he’s out for the rest of the year,” said Whittingham. “We were hoping to get him back. But after further evaluation, and just seeing how the recovery was, it’s apparent that he will not be available for the rest of the season. Everyone else though, at least as far as last game should be good to go.”
Kump committed to the Utes out of high school before serving a two-year LDS mission in Brazil. He returned in 2020 and signed with Utah where he started all five games at right tackle. In 2021, Kump started three games at left tackle and one at right tackle.
Utah will host UCLA on Saturday, October 30 at 8 p.m. MT on ESPN.
