Three Utes Earn Pac-12 Player Of The Week Honors

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Pac-12 Conference announced their six players of the week and the Utes have three guys taking home honors after their win over Arizona State.

For the first time in the Pac-12 era, the Utes have a quarterback in Cam Rising that won back-to-back Conference Offensive Player of the Week honors. Linebacker Devin Lloyd was named Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week and center Nick Ford was awarded Offensive Lineman of the Week.

Rising went 21-of-33 passing for 247 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions, while racking up 59 rushing yards and another score. He led the Utes to a tremendous second half comeback that included 28 unanswered points. In that second half, Rising completed 13 of his 15 pass attempts for 140 yards and two TD’s.

It’s the second time this season that Devin Lloyd won the conference Defensive Player of the Week award with the first one coming in the season opener. Lloyd had a game-high eight tackles, four tackles for loss and a career-high three sacks.

Nick Ford was a crucial part of Utah’s offensive line success in the win over Arizona State. Cam Rising didn’t get sacked at all in 69 offensive plays. The Utes racked up 455 yards of total offense, which is the most allowed by ASU this season.

Junior Tafuna was nominated for Defensive Lineman of the Week, while cornerback Faybian Marks was nominated for Freshman of the Week.

Also, former Orem High School star and Oregon linebacker Noah Sewell was named Pac-12 Freshman of the Week.
