Look Back At The Last Time BYU Football Played Baylor

WACO, Texas – Saturday will mark the first time BYU football has faced Baylor since 1984. That’s 37 years ago. But it was a magical season for the Cougars.
It’s the only year that BYU has finished a football season undefeated. In addition, that 13-0 team won the school’s only National Championship.

When BYU takes on Baylor on Saturday in Waco, it will feature BYU as an Independent and the Bears being a member of the Big 12 Conference. Starting in 2023, BYU will join Baylor as a Big 12 rival.
Back in 1984, like with many things in life and college football, these two teams had different league homes. Then, BYU was in the WAC and Baylor was playing in the Southwest Conference.
The Cougars rolled to a 47-13 win to get revenge for a 1983 loss to the Bears in Waco.

Six touchdown passes from Bosco in one game. Through four games this season, 2021 starting BYU QB Jaren Hall has only tossed for eight touchdowns. BYU was well ahead of the passing curve back in the heyday of the LaVell Edwards era in the 1980s.
BYU versus Baylor on Saturday, October 16, kicks off at 1:30 p.m. (MT) and will be televised on ESPN. The game’s radio broadcast can be heard on KSL NewsRadio, with extended radio pregame coverage beginning at 10 a.m.
The Cougars and Bears will meet again in 2022 in Provo before becoming Big 12 rivals starting in 2023.
