SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Former Utah Utes and current Ravens QB Tyler Huntley will be the backup signal caller for Baltimore this season.
It’s a great story for Tyler Huntley, who had an All-Pac-12 season as a senior in 2019 and signed with the Ravens’ practice squad after going undrafted in 2020. With injuries taking place during the 2020 season in Baltimore, Huntley moved his way from the practice squad to the eventually being the backup quarterback in the playoffs, while also getting game reps.
Huntley was in a battle with Trace McSorley for the backup job behind Lamar Jackson. In preseason, Huntley had a strong performance that was followed up by a decent outing in the second game.

In the preseason finale, Huntley went off against the Washington Football Team by throwing for 285 yards and four touchdowns, while rushing for 14 yards and another TD. That performance likely sealed the QB2 job for the former Ute. McSorley was waived by the Ravens on Tuesday, which means that Huntley will be the backup to Lamar Jackson and will make the 53-man roster.
