SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Real Salt Lake forward Chris Garcia has been loaned out to Swedish first division club Ljungskile SK, the club announced today.
Garcia, 18, has struggled to find the pitch at the Major League Soccer level after securing just one appearance against Vancouver on September 19, 2020. Since then, he has seen action in three Real Monarchs fixtures.

Garcia will travel to Sweden to join his new club and is expected to be in Sweden until the conclusion of the Superettan season, which is scheduled to end in late November.
“Growth and development is an important part of our structure and this is a great opportunity for Chris to develop and mature,” RSL Technical Director Kurt Schmid said. “We have seen success with this model with Andrew Brody and Pablo Ruiz in Austria and plan to continue to leverage our relationships with clubs abroad to provide our players with these opportunities.”
Garcia joined Real Salt Lake out of the RSL Academy, becoming the club’s 21st Homegrown Player at just 17 years old.
Monarchs, Vidal Part Ways
Additionally, Real Monarchs have announced that they have mutually parted ways with Juan Vidal who signed with the Monarchs in January of 2021. Vidal never made an appearance for the Monarchs.
