SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Former Utah Jazz forward Georges Niang is signing a two-year contract with the Philadelphia 76ers according to multiple reports.

Niang was an unrestricted free agent after spending the last four seasons with the Jazz where he worked himself from an end of the roster player to a stead rotational piece.

The forward became one of the best shooters in the NBA in recent seasons knocking down 41 percent of his three-point shots over the last three years despite connecting on just one three-pointer in his first two seasons in the NBA.

According to Marc Stein, the deal is worth 6.7 million over the next two seasons.

“Georges Niang is signing a two-year, $6.7 million deal with Philadelphia, according to his agents Mark Bartelstein and Andy Shiffman of @PrioritySports” Stein tweeted.

Niang averaged 6.9 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 0.8 assists in 16 minutes per game during his fourth season in the NBA.

Earlier Tuesday the Jazz signed veteran forward Rudy Gay away from the San Antonio Spurs who is expected to step into Niang’s role.

Niang’s minutes dropped to 11.7 per game in the playoffs where he shot just 28 percent from the floor and 30 percent from the three-point line.

While teams can agree to contracts with free agents, they can’t be signed until Friday. The Jazz will have 11 players under contract once Gay and rookie Jared Butler sign their contracts.

Teams are required to carry at least 13 players and can carry as many as 15, plus two two-way players.

The 76ers also agreed to contracts with free agents Furkan Korkmaz and Andre Drummond.

Ben Dowsett was first on the report of Niang’s agreement with Philadelphia.
