YOKOHAMA, Japan — Former Utah Utes shortstop Anissa Urtez made a spectacular catch during Team Mexico’s game against the United States.
Urtez and the Mexican National Team faced Team USA on Friday, July 23.
During the fifth inning of action, the United States hit a line drive that was primed for a base hit.
Urtez dove to her right and blocked the ball on the turf with her glove to halt the would-be hit.

The U.S. pitched its third straight one-hitter and has not allowed a run while improving to 3-0 in softball’s return to the Olympics for the first time since 2008.
But the Americans are getting just enough offense with five runs.
