Fan Creates Drought Inspired Utah Jazz Jersey

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – One Utah Jazz fan has used the state’s current drought to create a custom design for the team’s jersey.

Over the last two seasons, the Jazz have worn two jerseys inspired by the natural colors found in the state of Utah. In 2019, the team’s “City Jersey” transitioned from yellow on the shoulders down to red at the waist mirroring Utah’s sunny northern areas down to the red rocks of the south.

In 2020, the team’s “Dark Mode Jersey” took the gradation further, transitioning from yellow on the shoulder down to black under the sleeve line.

Tuesday, after seeing a map of Utah’s record-setting drought, I sent a tweet saying the state’s drought map resembled that of the Jazz recent city edition jerseys.

The map lighter colors transitioning from lesser drought-hit areas in the north to more severe areas in the south.

The macabre tweet garnered moderate recognition, with Jazz falls calling the map “a perfect and terrible tweet,” and punning “that’s some pretty dry humor.”

However, local tweeter Dahlelama who describes himself as a “Money with Photoshop” in his bio took the things to the next level, using the drought map to create an actual Jazz jersey design.

Surprisingly, the drought-inspired jersey design fits well with the recent Jazz them, looking like a mixture of the team’s city jerseys with a camouflage red, orange, and yellow design.
