SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Rice-Eccles Stadium renovation project is heading down the home stretch as it is set to be completed sometime in August.

Layton Construction has been handling the renovation project at Rice-Eccles Stadium and gave an update for the Utah fans on Wednesday morning.

Jordan Urrutia gave an update on the Utah Athletics Twitter page.

According to Urrutia, the majority of the seats in the south end zone have been installed. This includes the chair backs and the bleachers. One area on the west side does not have the seats and bleachers installed yet. A removable seating section will be installed at the end of August.

Dividers walls and ledge seating have been installed in the Ken Garff Performance Zone. Behind the bowl of the stadium, a large amount of concrete has been poured. They are also finishing up the Olympic Cauldron area on the west side of Rice-Eccles Stadium. Pavers are currently being put down which will eventually make the shape of a snowflake.

In the field club, all of the stone has been installed. Tile is put in and the walls are painted. The next step is to put in the cabinets. Carpet and tile are on the ground in the suites, along with cabinets. Countertops are currently being cut. The wood panels have been installed in the VIP suite as well as the fire places.
