BYU RB Jackson McChesney Gives Positive Injury Update

PROVO, Utah – One of the strengths for BYU football heading into the 2021 season is the running back room. The Cougars bring back one of the nation’s top rushers in Tyler Allgeier, Lopini Katoa, and a host of young, promising ball carriers.

In that mix of the young, promising running backs is Jackson McChesney. A former three-star recruit in the class of 2017, McChesney is coming back from a season-ending foot injury he suffered in the season-opening win against Navy.

With less than a month till fall camp opening up, McChesney gave a promising injury update for BYU fans. He wrote on his personal social media pages, “Healthy and ready to get after it.”

McChesney will be one of the top candidates vying for that number three running back spot. Others include Folau “Hinckley” Ropati, Miles Davis, and Sione Finau.

McChesney has already made a dent in the BYU football record books despite only playing in four games during his BYU career. McChesney set a BYU freshman record for most rushing yards in a single game by running for 228 yards in a blowout win over UMass in 2019.

It was the sixth most rushing yards ever by a BYU player in a single game.

Last year, Kalani Sitake pointed out McChesney as one of the standouts through the first week of fall camp. The talent has always been there for McChesney; now it’s a matter of staying healthy for the former Lone Peak High star.

BYU football opens up fall camp for the 2021 season on August 5th.
