Gobert was named to the All-NBA third team behind league MVP Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets who earned First-Team honors, and Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid who was named to the All-NBA Second Team.
Gobert was joined by Miami Heat forward Jimmy Butler, Los Angeles Clippers forward Paul George, Washington Wizards guard Bradley Beal, and Brooklyn Nets guard Kyrie Irving.
The All-Star led the Jazz to the third-best defense in the NBA and the best overall record this season. Gobert led the NBA in raw plus-minus at +728, ranked second in blocks per game at 2.7, and second in rebounds per game at 13.5 en route to All-NBA honors.
Rudy Gobert has been named the NBA Defensive Player of the Year.
He joins Dwight Howard, Dikembe Mutombo, and Ben Wallace as the only players to win the award at least three times. #TakeNote | @UtahJazz https://t.co/AtZMTwR0PV
