PROVO, Utah – BYU football and track & field athlete Luc Andrada has entered the NCAA’s Transfer Portal. KSL Sports has confirmed Andrada’s status in the Transfer Portal.

Once a signee in the 2019 recruiting class, Andrada had a decorated prep career at Pueblo High School in Pueblo, Colorado. In high school, Andrada shined as a quarterback at Pueblo East High School. Standing at 5-foot-10, 175-pounds, Andrada’s football career took him to other skill positions within BYU’s offense.

Andrada signed with BYU football after a track & field coach on campus shared Andrada’s film with wide receiver coach Fesi Sitake. Immediately after receiving the film and getting word that Andrada was a track star, Sitake and Aaron Roderick pounced and extended Andrada an offer as a wide receiver.

During Andrada’s first season with BYU, he competed at the wide receiver position. He didn’t appear in any games, but his speed made him an intriguing prospect in the future. Then in 2020, Andrada switched positions to running back when he competed in a crowded room featuring Tyler Allgeier.

Luc Andrada is part of BYU Track & Field as well

While competing on the gridiron, Andrada remained in track & field, and as recently as this month, Andrada was on the BYU Track & Field team at the NCAA Championships in Oregon. Andrada was part of BYU’s 4×100 relay team.

When athletes enter the NCAA’s Transfer Portal, they have the opportunity to return to the original program. Andrada was a scholarship athlete with BYU’s football program. BYU’s track & field program can extend a scholarship to Andrada to keep him in Provo. But now he has the opportunity to hear from other schools.

Coming out of high school, colleges in Colorado extended preferred walk-on opportunities to Andrada before he signed with BYU.
