DRAPER, Utah – Looking to get a BYU basketball fix this summer? You need to hit up the Powder League in Draper.
The Powder League enters its second season and is now an NCAA sanctioned event. What does that mean exactly? Well, it opens the door for current NCAA student-athletes to compete this summer in what the Powder League calls “a pro experience for all players.”

Summer hoop leagues such as the Drew League in California have always been popular spots for pro-level talent to get a quality run in during the off-season. The Powder League is providing much of the same with a 12-team league that is loaded with hoopers who have balled out here in the state of Utah.
Powder League features 12 teams
Among the 12-teams in the Powder League, 14 of the players that dot the rosters have ties to BYU basketball.
Of the 14 players, four of them are current BYU players. Led by All-WCC Freshman team selection Caleb Lohner. The former Wasatch Academy star is poised for an even bigger role during his second season with the Cougars. He joins a Powder League roster that also includes fellow BYU teammate Hunter Erickson and a pair of former BYU players in Payton Dastrup and Cory Calvert.

Trevin Knell is slated to compete in the Powder League as well. Knell was the WCC’s best three-point shooter during league play last season.
Returned missionary Jeremy DowDell, a sharpshooter from Olympus High, is joining the BYU basketball program this summer. He’s on a Powder League squad with former Olympus High teammate and current Utah State Aggie Rylan Jones.
On the former BYU player side of things, Yoeli Childs teams up with Detroit Pistons guard Frank Jackson. Joining Childs and Jackson is former BYU forward and owner of everyone’s favorite mustache Zac Seljaas.
Dalton Nixon teams up with former BYU starter and current UVU forward Connor Harding, UVU’s Colby Leifson, and former BYU guard Evan Troy.
Brandon Averette, a starting guard on last year’s BYU team, joins former UVU teammate Brandon Randolph. Averette will be playing for a Semi-Pro team in Texas this fall.
Former BYU and Clemson guard DaMarcus Harrison is also on a roster with former Utah and West Jordan High star Jordan Loveridge.
All Powder League games are played at American Preparatory Academy in Draper. The games take place each week in the summer on Tuesday, Thursday, and Fridays at 7 p.m. Ticket info can be found at the Powder League’s official website.
