SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – PGA Tour golfer Tony Finau moved up the leaderboard following his third round at the 2021 PGA Championship.

Finau began with an immediate birdie on the first hole to help him move up the leaderboard immediately. Another birdie fell on 4 after he made a long birdie putt from off the putting surface. Through 4 holes, Finau was back to even par and making his move on moving day.

Then, as Finau has done all week long, he capitalized on the par 5 7th hole allowing Finau to make the turn at one-under-par.

The final birdie of Finau’s round dropped on the par 4 12th following a magnificent approach shot that spun back to the cup and left just a 5-foot putt for birdie.

Bogey, Bogey Finish. Again.

Kiawah Island is known for a stretch of closing holes that may well be the most challenging closing holes in the world of golf. The final five holes back to the clubhouse scale the Atlantic Ocean’s coastline and players often hit into the teeth of the significant wind.

Thus far, Finau has done a good job managing the final five-hole stretch. On Saturday, however, he concluded his round with back-to-back bogeys on 17 and 18 to bring him back to even par on the tournament.

Yesterday, despite playing the two 9-hole stretches backwards, Finau concluded his Friday round with back-to-back bogeys on holes 8 and 9. It was the second consecutive day in which Finau ended his round with two consecutive bogeys.

This year’s PGA Championship tournament is at Kiawah Island Golf Resort in Kiawah Island, South Carolina.

After entering the day at two-over, Finau managed to shoot 70 or two-under for his third day at Kiawah Island.
