Utah Golf Selected To First NCAA West Regional Since 1992

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The University of Utah golf team was selected to their first NCAA Regional since 1992 after a tremendous season.
Utah golf qualified for the West Regional at Cle Elum, Washington, which is hosted by the University of Washington from May 17-19 at the Tumble Creek Golf and Country Club.
It’s the first time that the Utes as a team has a qualified for regionals since 1992 and just the third time in program history.
Regionals is broken up into six sites. Three sites will have 13 teams and 10 individuals competing and the other three having 14 teams and 5 individual competitors.

The Utes went to the Pac-12 Championships ranked No. 50 in the country out of 277 programs. Three Utes ranked in the top 194, including junior Blake Tomlinson at No. 81. Along with Tomlinson, senior Mitchell Schow, junior Tristan Mandur and freshman duo Javier Barcos and Jesper van Reedtz have played over 22 rounds of golf during the season.
The Pac-12 released their end of season awards on Thursday. Tomlinson was named to the All-Pac-12 second team. Schow received honorable mention, while Barcos was named to the All-Newcomer team.
“I’m thrilled that these three were recognized for their fantastic seasons,” said fifth-year head coach Garrett Clegg. “Overall, having three players recognized among the top players in our conference is quite an accomplishment. I’m really proud of these guys.”
