SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Former NFL quarterback and current CBS Sports analyst Steve Beuerlein said the “coolness” about BYU quarterback Zach Wilson reminds him of the legendary Joe Montana.
The former NFL signal-caller praised Wilson during a CBS Sports discussion on the upcoming 2021 NFL Draft.
Wilson is projected by many football experts as a future No. 2 pick.
“He reminds me of another really cool QB from back in our time, Joe Montana,” Beuerlein said of Wilson. “A lot of skill.”

Montana is considered by many as one of the greatest quarterbacks to ever play football.
He played in the NFL for the San Francisco 49ers (1979-92) and Kansas City Chiefs (1993-94).
Montana was a four-time Super Bowl champ, three-time Super Bowl MVP, three-time NFL MVP, and eight-time Pro Bowl selection during his Hall of Fame career.

The former 49ers and Chiefs QB is only the latest NFL great on the list of comparisons for Wilson.
In recent months, football analysts and former players have compared the future rookie to Super Bowl winning quarterbacks Patrick Mahomes and Aaron Rodgers.
"Zach Wilson, to me, has a lot of the cool Joe Montana characteristics…I do see the comparison to Patrick Mahomes or Aaron Rodgers when he can be falling off balance and throwing the ball across his body and still deliver it with velocity and accuracy."
