Report: Craig Smith To Hire Tim Morris As Third Assistant Coach At Utah

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – University of Utah men’s basketball head coach Craig Smith is expected to hire Tim Morris as his third assistant coach.
Tim Morris spent two seasons under John Brannen at Cincinnati before the Bearcats and Brannen parted ways. Morris will complete the coaching staff for Craig Smith’s Utah basketball program. DeMarlo Slocum and Eric Peterson are the other two assistant coaches. The support staff includes Justin Johnson as the special assistant to the head coach, Brandon Ubel as the director of scouting and Logan Ogden as the strength and conditioning coach.

Morris has ties to the west coast and the Pac-12. He played college basketball at Stanford. After a professional career overseas, he started his coaching career at Alabama as a graduate assistant from 2010-11. Then he went to Kennesaw State as an assistant for one season. Morris went back to Alabama as a graduate assistant for two seasons from 2012-15. He then went to Nevada to be the Director of Player Development for the 2015-16 season.
Morris landed a job at Northern Kentucky for three seasons as an assistant coach. Then he went to Cincinnati for two seasons under Brannen.
Utah’s basketball staff is now complete and the program will be getting geared up for the 2021-22 season that will begin in November.
