Jazz Win Franchise Record 21st Straight Home Game With Victory Over Bulls

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Utah Jazz defeated the Chicago Bulls for a franchise record 21st consecutive home victory.

The Jazz hosted the Bulls at Vivint Arena on Friday, April 2.

Utah defeated the Windy City franchise, 113-106.

Donovan Mitchell led the Jazz with 26 points.

Jazz Win Franchise Record 21st Straight At Home

After opening the season 0-2 at home, the Jazz are undefeated in 21 straight meetings.

The Jazz have won 21 consecutive games at Vivint Arena dating back to their January 1 win over the Los Angeles Clippers.

Utah last hit 20 consecutive home wins during the 97-98 and the 98-99 seasons. The Jazz amassed 12 wins to close out the regular season in ’98, before starting the ’99 lockout-shortened season 8-0. The Jazz had previously won 19 straight two times before falling one game short of tying the franchise record.

Another Franchise Record

In addition to the record victory, the Jazz scored at least 100 points for 38th consecutive time.

That ties a franchise record.

How It Happened

After a back-and-forth first quarter, the Jazz struggled in the opening minutes of the second quarter before things clicked in the minutes before halftime.

At the break, Utah owned a nine-point advantage.

The Jazz used the third quarter to stretch their lead to double-digits heading into the final 12 minutes of action.

During the fourth quarter, the Bulls fought back and outscored the Jazz by eight points in the quarter.

Chicago cut its deficit to two possessions in the final minutes before Utah clamped down and held on for the win.

Donovan Mitchell

After missing Utah’s last game against the Memphis Grizzlies due to personal reasons, Mitchell struggled to get going against the Bulls.

He opened the contest 1-7 shooting before find some rhythm later in the contest.

Mitchell ended with a game-high 26 points, 15 of which he scored in the second half.

During the first half, Mitchell became the second-fastest player in NBA history to make 700 career three-pointers.

Although it wasn’t his best shooting night, Mitchell was clutch late in the game. He scored eight points in the final 4:19 of the game, two of the points came on an explosion slam dunk.

Utah Jazz

The Jazz ended up shooting 46.8 percent for the game, including 36.1 percent on three-pointers.

Utah had five players score in double figures, Mitchell, Bojan Bogdanovic, Rudy Gobert, Mike Conley, and Jordan Clarkson.

Gobert posted a double-double with 19 points and 13 rebounds. He also had one assist and a pair of blocks.

Clarkson poured in 19 points to lead Utah’s second unit.

Chicago Bulls

The Jazz held the Bulls to 48.3 percent shooting overall and 25.0 percent from downtown.

Thaddeus Young led Chicago with 25 points.

All-Star Zach LaVine scored 23 points.

The Bulls fell to 19-28 on the season with the loss.

Up Next

With the win, the Jazz improved their NBA-best record to 37-11 this season, including 21-2 at home.

Utah’s next game is against the Orlando Magic on Saturday, April 3 at 7 p.m. (MDT). The game will broadcast on AT&T SportsNet and 97.5 FM.
