Real Monarchs Announce Season Opener Against LA Galaxy II

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Real Monarchs have announced that May 14 will be the date in which their season will begin with a home fixture against LA Galaxy II.
A kickoff time is yet to be announced, however, the match will be broadcast via the KSL Sports app.

The Monarchs enter their seventh season having only played one home opener at Zions Bank Stadium. The club’s first five home openers were at Rio Tinto Stadium and the 2020 season was kicked off at Rio Tinto Stadium in a game that allowed fans to attend for the first time since the global pandemic started. No other club allowed fans to attend a game sooner than the Monarchs in 2020.
The past two encounters with LA Galaxy II have resulted in the Monarchs outscoring them to the tune of 9-0.

Real Monarchs Head Coach Jamison Olave is entering his second season at the helm with an almost entirely new roster, with Sam Brown, James Moberg, and Jimmy Slayton as the only returners from the 2020 squad.
Unfortunately, the 2020 Monarchs season did not go according to plan, the club finished with a 3-11-2 record despite having won the USL Cup in 2019. They failed to make the postseason in 2020.
