BYU Football Announces Returning Missionaries For 2021 Season

PROVO, Utah – BYU football had a quiet National Signing Day, but they announced their returning missionaries for the upcoming 2021 football season.

Mid-Year BYU Football Returning Missionaries

Talan Alfrey (Uruguay)

Signed with BYU in the 2018 recruiting class. He’s enrolled, has the ability to compete for playing time this fall in a safety room that is looking to replace two starters.

Campbell Barrington (Mexico)

Barrington greyshirted last year. The younger brother to BYU offensive lineman Clark Barrington. Brady Christensen said on KSL NewsRadio’s Cougar Sports Saturday in January that the younger Barrington is a “stud.”

Donovan Hanna

Greyshirted last season. Played tight end at American Leadership Academy in Arizona under the watch of offensive coordinator Max Hall.

Dean Jones

An athletic safety out of Arizona that signed with BYU in the class of 2020.

Tysen Lewis (Peru)

Signed with BYU in the class of 2018, grey shirted last season. Will compete along the offensive line.

Josh Larsen

Defensive line prospect from Woods Cross High who signed with BYU in the class of 2020.

Isaac Matua (Madagascar)

Athletic linebacker prospect out of Kearns High School who has the frame coaches like to develop into the position.

Fakaosi Oliver Nasilai (Brazil)

Hard-hitting signee in the class of 2018 out of Arkansas, Oliver Nasilai will take on the Tyler Allgeier role in 2021 as a running back/linebacker for the Cougars.

John Nelson

Cousin to Cleveland Browns linebacker Porter Gustin, Nelson is a defensive line prospect out of Salem Hills High School.

Returning Missionaries in the Spring/Summer

Cade Albright (Colombia)

One of Southern California’s leaders in sacks for the 2018 season. Albright signed with BYU over offers from Utah and UCLA.

Michael Daley (Uruguay)

A leader in sacks in both Utah and nationally in high school football for the 2018 season. Daley

Ethan Erickson (Japan)

A three-star tight end out of Kahuku High School in Hawaii, Erickson received offers from Navy and Utah State.

Brock Gunderson (El Salvador)

Gunderson is a three-star offensive line prospect from the state of Texas who landed nine offers during his recruitment.

Dallin Holker (Chile)

Holker saw significant playing time in 2018 and was listed as a co-starter with Matt Bushman the first week of his true freshman season. Set receiving records at Lehi High School during his prep career.

Brooks Maile (Tonga)

Out of Pine View High School in St. George, Utah, Maile committed to BYU back in 2017.

Bruce Mitchell (Seattle, Washington)

From South Summit High School in Kamas, Mitchell was a standout offensive tackle at South Summit. When he arrives at BYU, he will compete along the defensive line.

Chase Roberts (Calgary, Alberta, Canada)

Roberts was an Under Armour All-American wide receiver out of American Fork High School, where he was a two-time first-time receiver for the Cavemen. He returns home from his mission in March.
