BYU Women’s Soccer Will Open 2021 Spring Schedule Against Utah At RSL Academy

PROVO, Utah – After having its fall season delayed due to COVID-19, BYU Women’s Soccer season will take place this spring.

BYU’s spring schedule was released on Wednesday, and it’s highlighted by three non-conference matches against programs from the Pac-12 Conference.

Last season, Jen Rockwood’s program completed its first-ever undefeated regular season. They won the WCC Championship before falling to eventual National Champion Stanford in the Elite 8 of the NCAA Tournament.

One of the challenging aspects for BYU playing a spring schedule is the cold weather to begin the year. BYU will play three matches at Real Salt Lake’s Zions Bank Real Academy in Herriman. Starting with an exhibition match against Weber State on January 30 and then the regular-season opener against rival Utah on Saturday, February 6 at 5 p.m. (MT).

After facing the Utes, BYU will make a trip to Southern California to face UCLA on February 12. The Bruins advanced to the National Semifinals of the NCAA Tournament in 2019. Three days later, BYU will make the trip across Los Angeles to take on USC.

Like BYU, USC advanced to the Elite 8 in the 2019 Tournament.

BYU concludes its Southern California road swing on February 20 with its West Coast Conference opener at San Diego.

The first home match in WCC play will be against San Francisco on February 27 at Zions Bank Real Academy.

Other non-conference matches include a trip to SEC country to face the Missouri Tigers on March 3rd and a Crosstown Clash against Utah Valley on March 17th.

BYU makes its debut at historic South Field on Saturday, March 13, against WCC rival Santa Clara. Last season, the Broncos were the only team in the league that forced the Cougars to a draw. BYU makes a return trip to the Broncos on March 31.

The regular season closes on April 17 at home against Portland. Followed by the NCAA Tournament on April 22.
